In their latest crackdown on pricing transparency, the SRA is writing to 8000 law firms asking for a signed declaration that they are compliant with the price transparency rules. The deadline for completion is the 27th of August.
The penalty for non-compliance can vary from disciplinary action to a fine of up to £2000 (which is less than a slick, modern website can cost!) Even firms without a website must still complete and return the questionnaire.
The rules were introduced following a Competitions and Markets Authority review in 2016 which found that there was insufficient information available to consumers to make informed choices when purchasing legal services.
Since November 2019 it has been compulsory for SRA and CLC-regulated firms to show the SRA digital badge. This allows web users to quickly identify that a website is genuine and the firm is regulated.
If your website doesn’t show the logo or you need assistance with any technical aspects of making sure your website is compliant, we can help.
We help law firms just like yours use the internet to stay compliant, communicate with clients and grow their business.
